Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries sliced, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 cup Mexican crema or substitute with ½ cup sour cream + ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon Aunt Susan’s secret touch
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional, for extra sweetness
  • whipped cream for garnish
  • mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Wash the strawberries thoroughly, then pat them dry.
  • Slice the strawberries into thin pieces, setting aside a few whole ones for garnish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together Mexican crema, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  • If desired, drizzle in honey for extra sweetness and mix well until smooth and creamy.
  • In serving glasses or bowls, layer strawberries and the sweet cream mixture, alternating until full.
  • Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a fresh strawberry for garnish.
  • Let the dessert chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter version, reduce the condensed milk and add a bit of plain yogurt. Add a drizzle of melted chocolate for a chocolate-covered strawberry effect. Try layering in other fruits like mango, banana, or blueberries for variety. Sprinkle crushed cookies or granola on top for texture. Freeze the cream mixture for 30 minutes before serving for a frozen treat.
